A registered society of the tricity's doctors.
The Tricity Doctors Forum is a charitable society of doctors across Chandigarh, Mohali, and Panchkula. It meets to sharpen practice, to speak for its members, and to serve the public health of the region.
What the Forum sets out to do.
The aims below are taken from the society's Memorandum of Association.
Education & training
Develop high-quality training for the tricity's doctors, and convene lectures, symposia, seminars, panel discussions, refresher courses, and CME meetings.
Advocacy
Facilitate cooperation between doctors and government bodies on medical issues and policy, and build key opinion leaders across specialties.
Exchange of ideas
Associate with academic bodies that share the Forum's aims, cooperate in furthering them, and assist support groups working on medical disease.
Popularising knowledge
Commission and publish clear, general information on disease for physicians, patients, and the wider public.
Public health & awareness
Run drives on drug-free living and de-addiction among the youth, and organise camps on AIDS, chronic disease, and the health effects of a polluted environment.
Governed by its members.
The society runs on a simple structure set out in its Rules & Regulations: a General Body of all members, and a Governing Body it elects.
General Body
The supreme authority of the society, made up of all its members. It elects the office bearers by secret ballot, adopts the audited accounts, and meets at least once every two months.
Governing Body
Seven office bearers elected from the General Body for a one-year term. It carries out the society's affairs and meets at least once every two months.
Elections
Office bearers are elected by secret ballot under the President. Each serves a term of one year, after which a fresh body is elected.
